Legislative Information

 

Step one: Are you registered to vote?  Do you know what legislative districts you live in?  Go to this website:  https://vote.michigan.gov/mvic/

 

Enter your information and click search.  Under "My Voting District Information" you will find your County Comm. District, State House District, State Senate District, and Congressional District.

 

Step two: Take your various district numbers to find your representatives:

Step three: How do I stay informed?  There are two good ways to stay informed from American Legion Headquarters office in Washington, D.C.

 

One: Go to the Legion's capwiz site, scroll down and sign up for "Action E-Alerts"  http://capwiz.com/legion/home/

 

Two: Sign up for e-newsletters from The American Legion. Go to https://www.legion.org/newsletters enter your email address in the box and click subscribe.  Than you will select the various newsletters you wish to subscribe too.

 

How do I find and read a bill that is being considered?

Searches can be done by bill number or keyword in content of bill.

 

There are two chapters in the Michigan Constitution that maybe of interest.  Chapter 35 - Veterans and Members of the Armed Forces and Chapter 36 - Michigan Veterans Facility (Veteran Homes)
