Detachment Commander

 Carvin “Huey” Chapman

Commander Chapman would like you to know that he is “100% Veteran All The Way”, and thanks you for electing him your State Commander for 2016-2017.  He is looking forward to working with the Department Commander, Department President and Honorary Junior President in their travels as The Legion Family.

He has been married to his wife Kathy for 32 years, has two sons, six grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  He gained his eligibility under this grandfather Ben Chapman.  He has been a Son for nearly three decades, held the Squadron Commander position for 15 years, the 18th District Commander for two years, Detachment 3rd Zone Commander for two years, and has held the Detachment Sgt.-at-Arms and Asst. Sgt.-at-Arms positions, as well as VA & R Representative in Detroit.

The Commander’s special project will be Operation Comfort Warriors, where 100% of the donations go to the veterans.  This is a program dedicated to meeting the needs of wounded, injured or ill military personnel by providing them with comfort items not usually supplied by the government. You can learn more about this program by visiting

He wants it known that if there are clothing items that can be picked up for the veterans, he will go anywhere to get them.  A vet needs a ride somewhere?  He will take them there.

If you have a problem you need help with, give him a call.  Would you like the Commander to visit?  Send him an invitation.
