Continued Support For Suicide Prevention Programs For Veterans

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The rate of Veteran Suicides in the United States is reported as high as 22 a day. This number may be very low as many suicides of veterans are not fully reported to the VA based on several factors.

Many things can be done to help lower this number including the American Legion Buddy Check program, safe gun storage programs, health care providers and law enforcement training about this issue. But the answer is not just in words from the Elected Officials. It requires action and, like most requests, money to stop this epidemic of Veteran Suicides.

This priority requires both State and Federal action.
