Extend the Eligibility Of The State Bonus To Vietnam Veterans Who Didn't Previously Qualify After 1973

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Consider extending the eligibility for a bonus, for the honorable service of Michigan veterans at the end of the Vietnam Era (1973-75). When created in 1973, the full bonus promise was not honored; those who served after the State of Michigan declared end of war did not qualify. The official U.S. Department of Defense end date for the Vietnam conflict was May 7,1975. Those veterans who served past the Michigan end date were determined to not be eligible for the Michigan Vietnam bonus. Troops were still sent to Vietnam in 1975.
