EXAMPLE OF Prorate of Votes in an Election
To prorate votes, all you need to do is multiply votes cast by the delegate strength of the district, then
divide that by the number of eligible votes present.
Example: Number of votes (delegate strength of district) 139
Candidate A received 30
Candidate B received 20
Candidate C received 25
Candidate D received 05
Total Votes present 80
Candidate A = 30 x 139 = 4170 divided by 80 (Total votes present) = 52.13
Candidate B = 20 x 139 = 2780 divided by 80 (Total votes present) = 34.75
Candidate C = 25 x 139 = 3475 divided by 80 (Total votes present) = 43.44
Candidate D = 5 x 139 = 695 divided by 80 (Total votes present) = 8.69
Candidates A,B,C and D must equal eligible votes Total = 139
